University of Bergen will again host a hub for the Google Hash Code Qualification Round on the late evening of Thursday March 1, 2018. There will be free food for students, balloons, goodies from Google and a unique opportunity to solve a near real-world algorithmic problem under immense time pressure. Teams of size 2-4.

Check out the pictures from last year's contest, or read the summary (in Norwegian). Visit the official site to learn about the rules and access previous years' problem sets.

The contest is open to everyone, even if you are not affiliated with the University of Bergen. If you do not have keys to Høyteknologisenteret, please call your host Torstein upon arrival at 92652405.

Location: Faklab 3, Høyteknologisenteret, University of Bergen (map)
Date and time: Thursday March 1, 18:30 - 22:30.
Doors open 17:30, live stream starts 18:00, and the prize ceremony ends no later than 23:00.

Registration deadline: February 1
Late registration (no free food/goodies/prizes): February 26

Registration

Deadline: Febrary 1 (late registration until February 26)

The registration process involves a couple of steps, so please start early.

  • First, each team member must register at Google as an individual.
    • Google will create an account for each person in the judging system, which may take up to 48 hours.
  • After your accounts have been created, you may form a team in the judging system and register the team to the University of Bergen hub.
You need to register for the University of Bergen hub before February 1 in order to get free food and goodies, but you do not need to finalize you team before March 1 at 18:00.

If you don't have a team yet, you should thus register as an individual and create a dummy team that you assign to the UiB hub, and then organize a proper team later. It is better to register now and withdraw later, than not registering now but later wishing you had.

Optional: Join the event on facebook.
